Weston-super-Mare Choral Society is a mixed voice choir dedicated to furthering the study
and performance of the choral music tradition within and around Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.
We are a SATB choir open to all ages from 16 years upwards. Currently we are around 50 voices covering an
age range much higher than we would like, perhaps a sign of the times and the wide range of activities and interests now open
to everyone.
The society rehearses during term time, from September to May, every Tuesday evening at 7.30pm in the
Milton Methodist Church Hall, Milton, which is located at the top of Baytree Road and across the road at the bottom of
Milton Hill, Worle.
We promote and organise two public concerts a year at local venues and have taken part in
performances at Wells Cathedral and with other local choirs.
We recommence our Autumn/Winter concert session on Tuesday 5th September 2006. We trust our members
and all who pop in for a read at this site have all enjoyed a Summer Holiday and are ready for hard work as we begin practise
for the Winter Concert.
If you enjoy the sound of choral music why not consider coming to make music with us by joining the
society, especially if you fancy yourself as a tenor? Why not come and see for yourself without commitment? If you enjoy the
evening you will be most welcome to stay on and join us.
Our very sucessful spring concert earlier this year was described in the press as an "outstanding
performance of two very challenging works by the Italian composers Pergolesi and Rossini". We enjoyed ourselves and the hard
work paid off because the audience also enjoyed our performance with prolonged applause at the end for the Soloists and ourselves.
So if you think or feel you would like to be a part of our next Concert why not come and join us on Tuesday,
5th, September 2006 7.30pm. at Milton Methodist Church Hall. You may not be a singer, but you may have another talent that
we could put to good use in your role as a Patron or a Sponsor thus assisting us in achieveing our objectives
in a positive and constructive action. In either case please contact the Secretary or any Society member for further details.
