THE CLUB

This is a new club that was formed in 2003 for the owners of VW based Buggies, Baja Bugs and Sandrails who live in the South West of the UK.

There are other buggy clubs in the UK, but our aim is to bring a few owners of these vehicles together during the summer months, cruise to a few shows and have a few beers. Catering predominantly for those in this area.

The club has a relaxed atmosphere about it and has grown steadily since it's inception and now has members with a variety of buggy styles, a couple of sandrails and a baja bug from all counties aross the south west including Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Gloucester, Wilshire, Dorset and South Wales.

During 2004 we had a club stand at the Bristol Volksfest and on 15th August we had a buggy meet with a few trophies for the best cars as judged by club members. We again had a sucessful club stand at Bristol Volksfest in 2005 and we are having this years buggy meet at a new VW show called VEEDUBBIN on 14th August in Paignton, Devon. We also attend some of the bigger VW shows together as a club such as Bug Jam. Full details are included in the club newsletter.

The club is not website based and the purpose of this site is to advertise our existence to the world. For this reason there are no talk forums but just a little about us, how to join, member benefits and pictures of a few of our members cars.

The club is run around a newsletter which is posted out to members on a quarterly basis which includes the latest news from the buggy scene, reports on events the club has attended or will be attending, features on members buggies and details of the latest discounts available. On joining members also get a free club sticker and a club T-shirt is also on offer for a small fee of £12. Club jackets are also available to purchase priced at £25.

Members are entitled to discounts on insurance and insurance valuations for insurance purposes can be arranged. Discounts are also available with some of the major parts suppliers such as Cool Air and Street Style & Power.

E-mail me (address at bottom of page) and I will send you some details of how to join or speak to me at one of the many VW shows this year the club attends. Look out for the club banner.

The company is built around the experience of 3 show winning cars built by Billy Bob including the black VolksRod buggy used in the club logo which won best buggy at both the Bristol Volksfest and the British Volkswagen Festival in 2002 and was featured in Total VW magazine.

The red metalflake Manx buggy now owned by club member Chris Cook was built in 2003 and took best buggy at the Cornwall VW Jamboree and best of show out of 50 buggies at the SDBC summer picnic that year.

The red Berrien Warrior sandrail built in 2004 which took the honours in the Buggy category at Bug Jam and which was featured in VolksWorld magazine in the March 2005 issue.

In particular the business will be importing the warrior 2 seater sandrail frame in a kit form and the Cruiser 4 seater rail frame also in kit form.

Additionally they will also be importing the Roadster-T which is a model T hot rod inspired beach buggy based on a shortened floorpan.

Additionally if you need advice on buggy building or which kit suits your purpose, please do not hesitate to contact the club.
