Here are brief details of holidays or walks that I have recently completed around the Lake District; more will be progressively added.

Oct/Nov 2004 - based at Troutbeck near Ambleside

For this holiday we were accommodated at Knotts Farm (a Heart of the Lakes property) with a Grimsby Fellowship Church walking group consisting of John, Hilary, Margaret, Steve, Nicky, Joy, Kevin and myself.

High & Low Pikes
The first walk we took was to High Sweden Bridge via Low Sweden Bridge. Shown here are the Pikes at the start of the Fairfield Horseshoe from the track alongside Stock Ghyll that leads back to Ambleside.

One of my favoured walks, the Langdale Pikes consisting of Pavey Ark, Harrison Stickle and Stickle Pike and the yet to be climbed Loft Crag. Can there be a better combination? Which route did we take? The west side of Stickle Ghyll from the car park a hundred or so yards past the New Hotel. We crossed the Ghyll via stepping stones at the shallow outfall of the tarn and used the North Rake. If you’re climbing all four Pikes and if you walk like me you will need 6 hours on your parking ticket! On this walk were John, Steve, Nicky and myself.
