The "white" village of Yunquera is centrally situated in
the Sierra de las Nieves National Park at an altitude of 750 mtrs., 65km [1 hour] from Malaga Airport & 35km from Ronda.
The village is large enough to have all facilities required for a relaxing holiday, but small enough to retain it's Spanish
charm & friendly welcome. There are tennis courts, outdoors swimming pool [June - September] & excellent access to
many walking trails.
A drive up the mountain track to Puerto Saucillo will reward you with stunning views back
to Yunquera, & providing the visibility allows, to the far distant Sierra Nevada's, Malaga & the sea. From here you
can access well marked spectacular walking trails. Birds common to this area include various raptors [eagles, goshawk etc.],
choughs & in the spruce & Pinsapo Pines, crossbills, Short toed treecreeper, crested tits, nuthatch, rock bunting,
black wheatear etc. Spring & late summer bring considerable numbers of migrating raptors etc. Mammals include, ibex, wild
boar, mongoose, genet.
