Our club began with four founder members in 1988 at the Gate Inn, Brinsley.
During the ensuing years, we met at several hostelries – eventually settling at the Peacock Inn, Oakerthorpe, Nr Alfreton
Derbyshire.

The current membership of around twenty five is drawn from a wide range
of ages, interests and occupations. The uniting factor is our enjoyment in owning and driving classic cars.
What is a "Classic Car"? So far as our membership is concerned, it is any
car treasured because it has become special by virtue of its age. None of us own "concours" cars because most of our pleasure
derives from driving them rather than preserving them as showpieces.
Above all, our common interest is a catalyst for the friendship and sociability,
which defines our club.
Club meetings are held regularly.
Most weekends between April and October find us at a County Show or out
for a Sunday run and meal. Where possible, we take the gazebo
to static events and hot drinks are available all day.
Several "Weekends Away" are organised each year, which take in classic
car or other interesting events in the area .
We also enjoy "runs out" as a club, which always terminate at a venue chosen
for its quality beer and good food!
During the winter months, a variety of social events are organised.
The club members have travelled abroad with their classic cars to destinations
such as France and Belgium.
So, in summary, "Amber Valley Classic Car Club" is a sociable group who
enjoy each other’s company and a love of classic cars.
