CLASSIC FESTIVAL to receive an XTREME addition!

Enjoy the spirit of motor racing’s halcyon days in one glorious weekend at Brands Hatch on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May 2005 when the famous Kent circuit hosts the annual Classic Festival.

The event organisers, the Civil Service Motoring Association, were keen supporters of the recent Xtreme Wheels International Show at Alexandra Palace and, in appreciation of this, the XWI organisers have arranged for a sizeable drag racing collection to be placed on display for the pleasure of the large Classic Festival crowd.

Both days of the Festival are a self-contained tour de force of non-stop classic car and motorcycle track action (9am to 5.30pm). MGs, Aston Martins, Jaguars plus many more great marques feature in the highly competitive racing.  Plus there is up-to-date racing in the fast and furious Formula Palmer-Audi single seater series and demonstration laps from the awesome 1993 F93A Ferrari Formula One Grand Prix car.

Away from the track the Xtreme display of drag racing's finest will include the Andy Carter Top Fuel Dragster, Santa Pod Raceway's exhibition Fuel Funny Car, the Obsession Super Mod, an FB Racing Street Eliminator '34 Ford and a Gold RV Racing Junior Dragster.  This impressive collection will complement hundreds of classic cars on display, including such rarities as a magnificent Thirties Rolls-Royce racer powered by a Merlin engine.

There’s also plenty of free entertainment for the whole family to enjoy including exciting air action with the Aerostars performing amazing Red Arrows-style aerobatics, stunt planes and daily parachute drops by the famous RAF Falcons.

The Classic Festival offers unbeatable value for money, for further information click here or visit www.csma-specialevents.co.uk

CC Racing say bye

CC Racing are sad to announce that after five years, Crew chief Cliff Gould has decided to leave the team and move on to pastures new, Said Doug Ripley.

With Cliff tuning the new combination we are now running, we had just set a new personal bests, for ET and Speed 6.44@200.90 at the Easter Thunderball, and hope to continue on from where he has signed off.

Doug and Jane Ripley, and the rest of the crew at CC Racing, would like to take this opportunity to thank Cliff for the hard work and dedication he has put into the car, and team as a whole, and wish him the best for the future.

Mr Carter V Mr Kagerad
I had a quick talk to Andy Carter and one of the questions i asked him was "who is you main competitor"?

He said:
I don't underestimate anyone, every dog has it's day, but it has to be Mr Kagerad, his hungry, experienced, got budget, good equipment and his nearly as good a driver as me.

Carter update

Hello everyone,

last week I was running round the house screaming and shouting with excitement like a 5 year old. The reason why? 10 drivers, well some licence holders and some drivers are now booked in to the Main Event, now qualifying really means something, great!

I wouldn’t like to pick the 2 non qualifiers, but I have got a couple of spare crew standing by to give the 2 teams a hand loading up Sunday night, if they need it. I have been in this situation twice before, first time, the Main Event 97 when there were 5 cars for a 4 car field and Barry (arch rival) Shevills didn’t make it, what a great day! Next, the Finland race in 03 when we had 6 cars for a 4 car field and Raymond & Big Tommy never made it, don’t think anyone would have picked Raymond not to make it at that stage of his career. You could actually feel the tension on the start line as Raymond and Moller made there last qualifying runs, in a desperate tyre smokeing bid to make the field.

So Top Fuel fans, don’t miss one day of the ‘Main’ you are in for even more of a treat Saturday and Sunday when TF comes round to qualify. If you can’t make Saturday, don’t dare miss that last 2.30pm Sunday session there’s going to be some desperate drivers strapped in!

A lot has happened since my last Andy’s (28-2-05) update. We’ve signed some new associate sponsors, Norfolkline, Crane Cams and Mike Shorer Fine Jewellery, others (see news 22-3-2005 the magnificent eleven) have renewed for 05. Both B&Q’s truck and trailer and mine are now painted and stickered, both race cars are painted and stickered, support car is stickered, uniforms are made. We have competed and runnered up in the Pro Fuel Shootout. We have the new web site up and running. Ben has been to Las Vegas on a training weekend with an American TF team and of course the big news, we have B & Q on board as Primary sponsor for 05 & 06!

Although not sponsors, we will be running with the stickers of, Webster Race Engineering, www.eurodragster.com and www.dragsterworld.com on the cars as a way of saying thank you for the support they give Carter Motorsport.

The Shootout seems like months ago now and although we didn’t get the result we were looking for I came away strangely happy. We did 99 % of the stuff right in the build up to and during the meeting, the car ran well, I drove ok and we just lost out in the final. It was our first meeting with new Crew Chief Ben Allum, some changes in the structure of the crew, first meet for B& Q and they were impressed, so got to be pleased really. I can still blow my own trumpet (as I love to!) and say I’m the King of the Pro Fuel Shootout, with 2 wins and 2 runner ups in the last 5 years!

The Dragster is going in to Hauser Race Cars on May 9th for a new front half and some other small updates, we are also changing over totally to the latest Brad Anderson billet blocks so there's plenty to be getting on with on the race car.

Next we are off to Brands Hatch for a big motorsport festival on 14th / 15th May looking forward to that one, should be a relaxing weekend. Then on the 16th the trailers going over to Tectonics to have the new awning poles made and fitted. Unfortunately, they are so busy they can’t supply us the actually cover till July, so we will be under a temporary awning again at the Main Event, but no worries, you don’t race the awning!

Then it’s up to the B&Q store in Northampton on Thursday 19th May, then (not confirmed yet) we will be in Wellingborough town centre on the evening of (between 6-9pm) Friday 20th May to help promote the race, then it’s over to Santa Pod to set up for the Main Event!

At the Main Event we will have a new T Shirt, new free hero card, new poster and new free elimination ladder card, so fans can keep track of us on the way to the final, so please come over, have a look and say hello.

Look forward to seeing you at the Main Event.

Thank you for your support, have a great weekend,

AC

GOLD RV RACING
I asked Derek of the Gold RV Racing team "How was the Thunderball for you?"
He said "New car new problems, over all we are very happy though as we got a PB and our first seven second run, well 7.48 @ 179 to be precise which I believe was the fastest MPH in our class for the weekend, only problem was we had dialled in a 7.49 so broke out and did not qualify too well."

"We also got stones in one of the exhaust valves and had to strip the heads down to remove it which also cost us a qualifying run."

Carter Motorsport sign B&Q in two-year deal

Reigning European top fuel drag racing champions and record holders Carter Motorsport have signed retailing giant B&Q as title sponsors for the 2005 and 2006 seasons in a two-year deal. Racing under the B&Q Power Tools banner, the team will also be supported by manufactures Makita, Metabo, Ryobi, AEG, DeWalt, Bosch, and B&Q’s own power tool brands, Performance Power Pro and MaCallister, along with a wealth of associate sponsors.

The team’s closely-guarded new livery and website will be launched during Santa Pod’s "Easter Thunderball" (26th – 28th March) prior to a fully-loaded tour of all FIA rounds, match races, exhibitions and promotional visits to B&Q warehouse stores throughout the U.K.

"This is B&Q’s first venture into professional motorsport, so we are naturally delighted to have finalised this prestigious deal with such a high-profile household brand" said owner/driver Andy Carter. "B&Q’s reputation for quality, service, and value is second-to-none, and their range of power tools simply can’t be beaten. Our mission is to further strengthen B&Q’s presence in the trade power tool sector of the marketplace with the ultimate power tool, a 6,500 bhp top fuel car"!

As the season opens, Carter Motorsport will also be rolling out their new pit-side hospitality unit, an expanded range of merchandise, and some top-secret innovations on the car.

Embargo Wednesday 23rd March 2005. Issued by John Andrews - Carter Motorsport. www.andycarter.net

“We are absolutely delighted to have the continued support of these great companies”, said team PR John Andrews. “At this level of competition, good sponsorships are a vital ingredient to the success of any team, and we are lucky enough to have the very best in European drag racing”. The car will also be displaying Webster Race Engineering and Eurodragster decals as a show of appreciation for all of the excellent work they have done for the team over the past few years.
