What is like to run the biggest drag racing site in
europe?
It is a lot of very hard work. Like everyone else I have a day job,
and a wife, and a dog, and a mortgage, and they all need looking after too. But I spend most of my time when I am at home
on my laptop or on the phone, and of course I am away from home a lot during the season. Luckily Mrs Tog is very understanding.
Is it hard to keep a daily news service running?
It is harder during the off-season because the racers get a rest, but we
are not allowed to have one! Actually, I had Christmas Day off (smile). But during the season it is a lot easier, because
there are races on a regular basis and that generates news.
How long have you been running the site?
Eurodragster.com started in late 1997, but really started to move in in
February 1998 when we started publishing news. Sharkman joined in 1999.
How many hours does it take to write a whole
days news?
I usually spend two or three hours each night typing, it's rare that
I go to bed before midnight. You have to add the phone calls to that as well. Then at races Sharkman and I work up to
nineteen hours a day.
Who is your best driver?
My favourite drivers of all time are Allan Herridge and Sammy Miller.
Neither of them are with us any more, unfortunately, but I was lucky enough to see them run. Which means that you will be
able to work out my age but please don't ask!
Who is your best rider?
My favourite riders of all time are John Hobbs and Phil Brachtvogel.
John Hobbs was simply The Best, and Phil is a great rider and one of the nicest guys on the planet. John still rides
occasionally and hopefully Phil will get back in the saddle some time soon!
Do you run the site from a office or home?
I run the web site from home. As I say Mrs Tog is very patient even when
the phone rings off the hook which it does some nights. I also do some work in my lunch breaks in the office (I work for the Government)
and I get a lot of calls in the office. Luckily my boss is very good.
Thanks Tog
