The Hotel was originally built in the early 1900`s, it is built in the Traditional local stone with walls up to 2` thick.
Since then it has been used as an Inn with accomodation for the original Lace salesmen. They would come to the Village to
buy the Famous Lefkarita lace and then travel all over the world selling these beautifully crafted napkins, tablecloths and
other Lace products.
It has also been used as a Cinema, Coffee shop and countless other uses during its time. The building underwent a major
rebuild in 1989 and was then run as a Hotel by a good friend of our Prodromos, for about 9 years.
Unfortunately due to ill health he had to give up the Hotel and it has only been used occasionally since.
We first saw the Hotel on a trip to visit my parents who retired to the Village, we then spent a year negotiating and
subsequently renovating it (hopefully) to the condition that you will find it in for your stay. We opened on Good Friday
2005.
Our children are attending the local Cypriot school in Lefkara & have received a great amount of help from everyone
at the school. In fact we have all received a huge amount of help from everyone from the Mayor, other local Restuaranters
and a great number of the Village locals. We hope that you enjoy your time with us, but please feel free to make
any suggestions that you feel may help.
We hope over time be able to offer guided walks around the Village and up into the Troodos Mountains, mountain
bike guides, painting courses & my personal favourite Motor bike hire & tours. All the main tourist roads tend to
be of great quality, while of the beaten track things may get a bit lumpier. If you are planning to head for the Hills or
the Dams then a small 4x4 would be advisable.
We have all fallen in love with the Village and the surrounding countryside, we have two of the largest reservoirs in
Cyprus within 20 minutes by 4x4 (couple of hours rambling), above and below the Village. Fishing licences are available
locally with beautiful walks / biking around the lakes. For more fishing info see our link to the Cyprus freshwater Fishing
Assoc.
Lefkara is not a place you will only want to visit once, you will feel relaxed and welcomed by the locals.
Part of our building is the Church of St Mamas, a small local Church still used
to this day. Unfortunately during its history all of the original frescoed walls have been destroyed or painted over.
There is an annual festival of St Mamas every September, in fact its very hard to pick a time here when we arent celebrating
a festival or religous holiday off some sort. We will be happy to show you the Church during your visit.
