Reynards Rest is built on the hillside overlooking the coastal village of Par.   Much mentioned in Daphne du Maurier's 'The House on the Strand', Par is a thriving village situated on St Austell Bay between the better known ports of Fowey and Charlestown.   It boasts a mainline railway station (direct services to London Paddington and Penzance among others, as well as a branch line service to the north coast resort of Newquay), newsagent, grocery stores, a library and no less than four pubs!

Carol and Doug Scrafton look forward to welcoming you to their home, which saw duty during World War II as a US army officers' mess, and later as a care home.   Situated near the top of a hill overlooking Par, there are some breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, as well as of sandy Par Beach.

The house is ideally situated for the world-renowned Eden project, less than 3 miles away. (for more information about the Eden Project, you could look at: www.eden-project.co.uk).

And there are a large number of other nearby attractions, including the Lost Gardens of Heligan (one of our favourite gardens in the whole of Cornwall).   One of the National Trust's special treasures, Lanhydrock House, Trewithen Gardens and a large number of other historic houses and breathtaking gardens are all within a short drive.

For other ideas, you might like a look at the following website: http://www.parcommunity.org.uk/page38.htm.  Many of the places mentioned there ares accessible from Reynards Rest either on foot or by means of public transport.   Therefore, if you are moderately fit, you could spend an entire week here, without once needing your car!   (And since mainline train services from London Paddington call at Par, you could probably leave it at home).

For the keen walker, the South West Coast Path is but  500 yards from the house, and the Saints' Way is little further.   Other charming walks are also nearby.

For those wishing to explore Cornwall by car, the north coast (home to resorts such as  Padstow and Rock) is barely twenty minutes' away.  Indeed even Land's End can be reached in just over the hour.
