About the Work
Katherine's work draws on all levels of human experience and perception. Her work is realised
as paintings and drawings in oil, mixed media or pen on paper. The figurative works are mostly painted in oil as painted collages
combining elements of photo-realism and stylised imagery, or straight portraits.
The abstract paintings are multi-media, multi-layered paintings made in oil, acrylic,
varnish, ink, bleach and pencil drawings. Layers are place one on top of the other and stripped away to reveal the hidden
elements.
The abstract drawings are usually monochrome executed in black pen on white paper for
the maximum optical effect. They are line drawings fitted to latent structures and combine the polarities of absolute randomness
with a very ordered pictorial ground.
